Woodman Claims 'Triple Crown' in a BPC first
at the 2026 Victorian Open

The Bendigo Pickleball Club (BPC) is celebrating a moment of true sporting history within it's short existence, with popular committee member Greg Woodman claiming the club's first ever Triple Crown at the 2026 Victorian Open.
Played at the Hume Tennis Centre - Craigieburn over the recent labour day weekend, Woodman claimed this rare feat by winning the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles in the 70+ DUPR 3.5+ division.
Across the tournament, Greg delivered a masterclass in patience, precision, and competitive grit, becoming one of the few Victorian players ever to sweep all three events in a single championship.

Men’s Doubles – Gold Medal Match
Greg Woodman / Geoff Forbes def. John Cayless / Alan Morris — 11–9, 9–11, 11–9
In a thrilling three‑game battle, Greg and fellow BPC member Geoff Forbes combined sharp resets with fearless net pressure to edge out a seasoned opponent pairing.
Mixed Doubles – Gold Medal Match
Greg Woodman / Kerry Egan def. Fiona Bond / Gregory Cooper — 11–6, 11–6
Teaming up with his regular mixed partner Kerry Egan, Greg and Kerry controlled the tempo from the opening rally, using smart placement and steady teamwork to secure the final jewel in the Triple Crown.
Greg’s achievement is a milestone not only for him but for the entire Bendigo Pickleball Club. His leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to the sport continue to inspire players across the region. The 2026 Victorian Open will be remembered as the year a Bendigo athlete stood above the field — and did it with style.
“Greg’s Triple Crown is an extraordinary achievement and a proud moment for our club,” said Club President Paul Henshall. “His dedication to training and his leadership within the Bendigo pickleball community make this accomplishment even more meaningful.”
"The club was represented by 32 players over the course of the 4-day tournament, which demonstrates the strong Pickleball talent that we have in the Bendigo region.", Henshall further added.
When reflecting on this extraordinary achievement, Woodman was modest.
“I’m honoured to represent Bendigo and grateful for the support from everyone at the club,” said Woodman. “This tournament was something special.”
